This might be one of the best Brooks Brothers sales I’ve seen in years. First, select items have been discounted between 25% and 40%, which on face value isn’t that unusual. Except until the end of Saturday, you can knock another 25% off with the checkout code DECBC16. That brings the total discount as low as 55% off retail.
The discounts get even lower if you pay with a gift card. At the moment, they’re offering a free $25 eGift card for every $150 eGift card you purchase. To get the bonuses, you have to purchase each of the $150 eGift cards separately. The credits will be immediately emailed to you and you can apply them to any purchase, which makes all the discounts above stackable.
Note: customers are limited to five $150 eGift card purchases, and apparently you can only apply three of the $175 eGift card credits to any one online order. But shipping is just $1, so you use all five in separate multi-item orders.
Some notable things I found while browsing the site this morning:
- Footwear: Tons of great shoes, including some that have already been discounted – string loafers, black oxfords, penny loafers, Norwegian split toes, and suede cap-toe boots (the boots are especially nice). There are also some discounted shoes from Edward Green, although the DECBC16 code doesn’t seem to apply there.
- Shirts: Brooks is offering a 25% discount when you purchase three or more dress shirts (and the DECBC16 code stacks). That brings the price of their oxford-cloth button-downs lower than they were before the recent hike.
- Tailoring: For guys looking to pick up their first suit or sport coat, check out Brooks Brothers’ Fitzgerald cut. The construction is good; the cut is conservative, but not frumpy; and the prices are very reasonable. Some of the better-made pieces can be had on sale for about less than $1,000, but with all the promotions mentioned above, you can get a suit now for about $550.
- Outerwear: This double-breasted topcoat looks nice, as does this field coat they did with Beretta.
- Accessories: The tie designs at Brooks Brothers can be a bit hit or miss, but you can’t go wrong with basic stripes and knits. I also really like Brooks Brothers’ dress belts. Cheaper belts can sometimes break down around the flex point (where the leather bends around the buckle). Mine from Brooks Brothers, however, have lasted years.
- Sale Section: Also worth a browse is the sale section, where you’ll get the best deals. I just picked up these sand suede bluchers for $150.
