Mr. Porter’s Fall/ Winter Sale

image

Mr. Porter just started their end-of-season sale, with discounts of up to 50% on select items. Lots of familiar labels, such as Drake’s, Common Projects, and Red Wing, as well as a number of not-often-discounted brands such as William Lockie and George Cleverley. Some notables that I found last night:

Affordable Basics: For something that won’t break the bank, check J. Crew, Club Monaco, Ralph Lauren, Gant Rugger, and Alex Mill. These are great labels for casual shirts, although I also like Ralph Lauren for outerwear and Club Monaco for non-cashmere knits (cheap cashmere generally pills easily).

Notable Outerwear: I’m a big fan of Margiela’s navy five-zip this season. Pair it with blue jeans, grey t-shirts, and white sneakers. Also great: Belstaff’s waxed motorcycle jackets, Freeman Sporting Club’s naval deck jackets, Mackintosh’s raincoats, and Aspesi’s Italian outerwear.

Knitwear: Lots of great knitwear from John Smedley, SNS Herning, Sunspel, Willie Lockie (the cashmere from Lockie is the best I’ve experienced anywhere). I picked up this navy turtleneck last night along with some grey Anonymous Ism socks

Warm Minimalism: For that warm minimalist look I mentioned last year, or just nicely made basics that will fit into any casual wardrobe, try Ami, Our Legacy, and APC

Workwear: For that Americana/ workwear look this blog used to hate, but now apparently champions, see RRL, Schott, Levis Vintage Clothing, Red Wing, and Yuketen. I really dig these Yuketen Angler boots.

Niche Japanese Labels: Mr. Porter has been carrying some really interesting Japanese lines lately. See Beams Plus, Blue Blue Japan, Chimala, Neighborhood, Remi Relief, Visvim, and Blackmeans. If you’re ordering, be sure to double check measurements, as some of those labels run slim enough that you’ll want to size up.

Kingsman: Once the merchandising line for Matthew Vaughn’s British-American spy film, Kingsman has now morphed into Mr. Porter’s house label. Lots of collaborations here with top-end brands such as Drake’s, Turnbull & Asser, and William Lockie.

Shoes: An incredible deal on Le Chameau’s Chasseur rainboots. Also, some dress shoes from George Cleverley, casual shoes from Heschung, and made-in-Maine moccasins from Quoddy. For sneakers, see Common Projects, Converse, Nike, Vans, and Margiela

Bags: Took all my willpower last night to resist those backpacks from Master Piece again (this navy one looks great). Also worth a look: Porter, Tarnsjo Garveri, Smythson, and Atelier De L’Armee

Accessories: Lastly, check out the ties and pocket squares from Drake’s and Rubinacci, hats from Lock & Hatters, umbrellas from Francesco Maglia, and sunglasses from Ray Ban, Persol, and Oliver Peoples
