Behind the Scenes of Ami SS12

Remember that new French brand I wrote about, Ami? Well their SS12 lookbook got blogged about a bit, and for good reason - it looks amazing. However, the real gem is their “behind the scene” photos for the shoot, which the Fashionisto has nice, large pictures of. I think it’s safe to say, having seen this shoot, that Ami is going to be one of the most important new brands to watch out for in the coming seasons.

There are a ton of things I like about the collection, but perhaps most of all, I’m really feeling the suede driving mocs, chinos, and double breasted jackets in colorful palettes that are original and eye-catching, but don’t veer into “go to hell” territory - Hermes orange, olive green, and Dodger blue (my must kop colors for SS12). This is, in my opinion, the palette to shoot for next Spring. There’s a spring time quality to them, but they still feels sober and wearable. “Go to hell” colors can be nice if you have the swagger to pull them off, but for guys like me, it just looks like I’m wearing a sartorial version of IKEA furniture. These slightly more muted colors, however, I can get behind.
