Tom Stubbs and Style in Motion
Tom Stubbs is the fashion editor at large for The Rake, an occasional contributor to the style section at The Financial Times, and the writer behind the wonderful blog Style and Error. He’s a man who has a penchant for sharp tailoring, fancy shoes, and handsome watches. His taste run traditional, but not conservative, and I think he makes for a wonderfully colorful read sometimes.
His Vimeo account has an online video series that showcases some menswear luminaries. I think they’re fun to watch, partly because you get to see style in motion. Yesterday, I stopped by Zegna and Canali, and picked up their lookbooks. I always enjoy flipping through these things, but looking at photographs that have been carefully created by a team of stylists, photographers, and graphic artists is a completely different animal than seeing real people, on the street, moving in their clothes. It’s much more meaningful when looks are well executed in videos since imperfections can’t be edited out.
They’re also enjoyable because … well, you get to see how some European luminaries dress in their every day clothes. For a fanatic like me, it’s fun to see these special appearances. Take a look for yourself.
