Putting It On Lo-Away

Like hundreds of other labels, Guy Rover is one of those things that the Japanese menswear scene has known about for years, but somehow Americans still haven’t caught on. The label was started in 1967 in Northern Italy and has achieved a kind of cult following among Italian and Japanese menswear geeks. They’re mostly coveted for their aggressive collar rolls, cutaways, and high collars, all of which give their shirts a lot of panache. They also have two signature marks - a stitched band with Italy’s colors on the back of every collarband, and a small embroidery of their logo in a visible, but still discrete, spot.

Rakuten has a bunch of their cutaway polos right now for about $170, taxes and shipping included. That’s $30-60 dollars cheaper than any other place I’ve seen them at. I normally wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them (yes, I would feel comfortable recommending a $170 polo), if it weren’t for the fact that Kent Wang is selling extremely nice spread collar polos for $65. They’re not cutaways, but they’re pretty damn close. Whether you want to spend the extra $105 for the 15 degree angle difference is up to you, but for most everyone, I recommend buying Kent’s polo and just right-click saving these Guy Rovers.

Lastly, in case you missed it, you can read my review of Kent’s polo here. Check to the last picture to see how great the collar is. I think it may be one of the best purchases you can make this season.
