First Look: Herno SS12

Though I know it’s a little early for it, I’ve already started thinking about spring-summer outerwear. My favorite collection so far is by Herno, an Italian company based out of Lesa, Lake Maggiore, which is just an hour northwest of Milan. The company has been making outerwear since the 1940s, and after building a strong reputation in Italy and Japan, they started manufacturing for other companies such as Ralph Lauren, Jil Sander, and Hermes sometime in the ’80s.

For next season, they have raincoats, trench coats, field jackets, safari jackets, and bomber jackets. The safari and bomber jacket have an active sport style, and their flagship Lesa raincoat is made with insulating, heat-sealed seams, buckle details, and Bakelite buttons. Many of the models you see below come in brighter colors too - kiwi, emerald, teal, Air Force blue, and ruby red. All perfect for the spring-summer seasons.

So far, I only own one Herno coat - a lightweight navy raincoat - and it’s easily one of my favorite pieces. Here’s to hoping I’ll be able to own something else by the company sometime next spring.
