La Vera Sartoria Napoletana’s Tour

Neapolitan tailoring house, La Vera Sartoria Napoletana, has some really wonderful photos from their latest Asian and European tours. In the last few months, they’ve been holding trunk shows in Brescia, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Kobe, and Hong Kong (the last of which was at The Armoury, of course).

The house’s name, La Vera Sartoria Napoletana, means “the real Neapolitan tailoring.” It was started by Orazio Luciano and his son, Pino, about ten years ago. The senior Luciano was a master tailor at Kiton for twenty years before he left to start his own tailoring house. After starting small and slowly building a customer base in Japan, he introduced his collection of Neapolitan suits and jackets to the United States. Distribution isn’t wide, but you can find them at Artigiano, a menswear store in Florida that largely focuses on Italian style.

What I like about these photos is that you really notice how well the suits fit. Orazio and Pino are shown working in nearly every picture, and their suits always fit impeccably. The collars never leave the neck, the armholes are made quite high, and there’s a certain sense of ease, comfort, and masculine refinement in every photo. There is also, of course, all the things many of us love about Neapolitan tailoring - the soft construction, wide lapels, open quarters, and sweeping lines going from the top of the lapel down to the hem.

For what it’s worth, I’ve also included some of their lookbook photos from their ready-to-wear line. I actually find the real-life tour photos more impressive than the lookbook, which says a lot about how well these suits must look in real life.
